τζίνιους

~when it comes to the corporate side of music industry, i've always been in the background. i never studied it to a point as some other would: i like the whole management side, the business side of it. i wasn't trying to be an executive of ceo or to form a company; instead i just wanted to make music, which is pretty much what i still wanna do now -even though many years later we formed our own companies and we did our own things. but as far as the business plan underlying the wu-tang -like, 'we gonna star wu-tang this, and then we gonna star this company, we wanna start a clothline' -that was rza's plan.

but it feels great to be able to make a career, and i actually made a living and raised my children from hip hop. they were able to get good things in life, you know, as far as material things, though material things don't mean much, but it still feels good to have those things as long as you don't get caught up in it. which is the thing of nowadays: people are so materialistic, clothing means so much to them that they have to rhyme about it. instead of just looking nice they want to look nice and talk about how nice they look.
~if you look at it, cash indeed rule everything around me -though it's everything around me; not me. we didn't say 'cash rules us'; we just said cash rules everything around us. and it does, man. i mean it just takes money to do things. i can't even ride public transportation for free; i can't go into the store and get a bottle of water without having cash, or without having some sort of credit. it rules. but knowledge is a whole lot more powerful than money because with knowledge you can get money [...]
~...maybe it was how the others were feelin' at the time, but even when they got into it they just had the love for hip hop. like when raekwon started our rhymin', he didn't rhyme to make money 'cause we just didn't make money. it was just the love of it at the time.
~i rarely turn on the radio when i'm in my car. and if i do, i'd rather listen to the news. basically, i'm just checking out weather and traffic and local news. i don't listen much to the radio; i don't really watch tv as far as videos and stuff like that. every now and then, i turn on mtv and bet just to see what's new. and then that's it. you know, even lately -within the last eight months to a year- i haven't even turned my tv on in the room, and instead i just try being to myself.
